Stories of the Early Days is finally available for preorder, and this song always reminds me of it. No one in particular, just all of the early people trying to craft the world as they want it.

New magic, I suppose.” A smile spread across Lidia's face, and she leaned in closer. “Their dreams and plans are so incredible, Claire, so wonderful. Picture this: You and me, ruling the world we create, and using its magic to live forever!”
“Live forever?” Claire said. “Impossible!”
“With your help, Claire, anything is possible. Their magic is limited for now, but if you taught us, I can only imagine what we could do.”
“Lidia, my magic isn’t as strong as you think. What you’re talking about, it’s… The currents of the world aren’t telling us to do that. It’s just a fantasy.”
“How far can listening get us? Maybe it’s time we started talking back to those currents. Make some real change. Nothing’s too far out of reach. We can do this!”
“But it’s not just impossible, it’s wrong.”
“But why is it wrong? Don’t you think we’re smarter than some detached magic? And if anyone should step outside the boundaries, shouldn’t it be us? If we take control of this world’s magic, we’ll grow, and we’ll be able to know what’s best. Then we can protect against others who wouldn’t bother to learn.”
