Monday Music: Elisapie - The Earth Moved

2/6/2017

Welcome to the start of a very special week in Crossworlds history. Get ready to celebrate February 8th! If you don't know the significance of that date, I won't spoil book one to reveal it. Just know that it's a Crossworlds holiday and a time of happiness.

But before we look forward, we must look back and remember how all of this began.

This song is for Ellie and Savannah's parents, Cassandra and Travis, during the storm. As the earth moves, Cassandra fights for her family and home, while Travis carries their tiny twins to the only safe place left: our world.

In celebration of this holiday, "The Mansion's Twins" is on sale for $0.99 from now until they end of February. Have a lovely week, everyone!

Wednesday Word: Had it with Winter

I can’t sleep because of the loud storm. The next time I wake up, it’s pitch black in the room. The storm knocked the power out. I wonder when it’ll be back on, thinking of how irritated I’ll be if I can’t have tea in the morning. I also wonder if my car is still there, and not smashed under a tree. I know I heard falling branches.

In the morning, the power is back on, but my throat is killing me. And I thought I could avoid getting sick this year. Now I’m gonna have a cold all week, and a stuffy nose that will probably last until the end of winter. But I have to get up and do things. Winter is great, if you get to stay inside with a cup of tea, pile of blankets, and the heater cranked, staring out the window. But life doesn’t stop for cold weather.

I get up, and start putting on layers. Leggings under my pants. Three shirts. Two pairs of socks. Coat, hat, scarf, boots, and gloves. Aaaaand all the time I had is gone, just from getting dressed. And I still have to warm up the car. But at least it’s still there.

But there’s snow on the ground. Do I drive, or should I walk in? Ugh, I’m being a total baby, of course I’ll drive, it’s not that much snow. But I’ll be equally late either way, it’ll take just as long to defrost as it will to walk… I wish it wasn’t so dark…

That’s a typical winter morning. And none of that stuff, none of it, ever happens in summer.

I can’t wait for the temperature to hit 80 for the first time, and everyone forgets all the hell we’ve been through and complains about the heat. I can’t wait for people to start saying “I’m so ready for fall,” completely forgetting that after a few lovely weeks, we’ll be back to freezing misery.

I want to wake up after a peaceful, quiet night, feeling heathy and breathing easily. I get up and take two seconds to throw on a shirt and pants. Or a sundress. And I still have time to enjoy breakfast before heading out to my car, which is ready to go. And oh look! Sunlight!

Excuse all the ranting. Just had to get it out. Now I'm going to stare longingly at my sundresses until June. At least January is over.
